The eight-month old programme initiated by Mah Sing Group Bhd (MSG) to reward buyers
of its properties ended in style last weekend, when it gave away a bungalow in Shah
Alam, Selangor, worth RM800,000.
Through the developer’s Treasure Blitz contest, businessman Chew Kui Tong, who had
earlier bought a home in MSG’s Perdana Residence project in Selayang, Selangor,
beat 20 other purchasers shortlisted for the premier grand prize.
"The win has a special meaning to me as it fell on my son’s birthday," said Chew.
MSG chairman Tan Sri Yaacob Mat Zain said the RM2 million reward programme with
four tiers of prizes, including a "One Home One Gift" guarantee, was designed to
encourage more homeowners to "live the premier life" offered in MSG’s concept developments
and to give extra value to their purchasing decision.
Last month, the programme’s final monthly draw was held in Johor Baru, during which
retired teacher Tan Pia Choo won an RM88,000 business suite in MSG’s Austin Perdana
development.
"We will continue to be consumer- centric and organise more rewarding programmes
for our buyers," Yaacob said.
On Chew’s win of a bungalow in Kemuning Residence, he said the project recently
won top honour in the "Best Property, Malaysia" category of the Asia Pacific Property
Awards 2008 conducted in association with CNBC.
Kemuning Residence is a low-density project comprising 141 garden bungalows and bungalows. Typical units come with 2,808sq ft of space accommodating five bedrooms
and five bathrooms.
Chew will be able to view his prize when it is completed by the end of this year.
On what is in store for the property market given the higher cost of energy and
commodities, MSG executive director Lim Kiu Hock said "astute buyers will continue
investing in properties now as their prices will inevitably rise in tandem".
"There will always be property buyers in good times or bad... however, developers
need be innovative and offer products that will make customers happy and give them
good value for money," he said.
MSG is currently undertaking 14 projects throughout Klang Valley, Johor Baru and
Penang. Among the recognition it has received are Forbes Asia’s "Best Under a Billion
Ringgit Award" from 2005 to 2007, and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer
Affairs' "Top 1,000 companies in Malaysia".
